Sometimes we forget that we have one of the world’s greatest natural wonders only a short drive of away from us. Yes! I’m talking about Niagara Falls. Many of us have not been to the Falls in years, while others have never been at all!
We think one thing to blame for that is the commute there. The 115km drive which can be done in an hour on a good day, often turns into two hours with the traffic of the Gardiner and QEW.
But that all could soon change with the introduction of an 8 minute flight from Niagara to Billy Bishop Airport, located in downtown Toronto.
The idea of using Niagara’s airport as both a service station and a place to store planes overnight was brought up during an apparent meeting between Regional Council Chair Alan Caslin and Porter CEO Bob Deluce.
The main idea is that the first flight in the morning will act as a commuter service for people traveling to Toronto from places around the Niagara and Hamilton areas, and then obviously will also be beneficial for those of us looking for a quick getaway trip without the lengthy drive.
