Arguably the best way to paint is in the wild outdoors, where you're surrounded by sheer natural beauty. Whether it's a landscape consisting of snow-capped mountains and lush green forests or an ocean vista studded with sailboats and islands, nothing beats being right in front of your inspiration.
In Ontario, the town of Cavan holds a painting festival that lets participants paint landscapes in outdoors among other artists. This is the town's second year holding the festival, and their event in the year prior experienced great success.
The artwork created during the festival is sold at prices dictated by the artists, and 25% of the proceeds are donated to Community Care, a local facility. During the festival, judges will also examine all of the paintings and hand out awards to winning pieces.
This year, the Cavan Arts Outdoor Painting Festival will be held on October 1 at 8 am and October 2 at 11 am. Artists are responsible for their own transportation, lodging food and painting supplies.
