Just when you thought all the Fyre drama was almost over, it looks as though the legal fallout is only beginning.
Since angry festival-goers have returned, the lawsuits against organizers like Ja Rule have begun piling up. Interestingly, one lawsuit targets not only the execs who made the festival happen, but against the influencers who promoted it.
Known as "Fyre starters", these celebrity influencers included models Kendall Jenner, Emily Ratajkowski and Bella Hadid. These big names were given huge sums of money to promote the festival to their followers (Kendall Jenner was reportedly paid $250,000 for a single Instagram post).
In one of the cases filed in California state court, the document named social media influencers to be sued for fraud, negligent misrepresentation, and unfair trade practices, according to Fortune.
While we'll have to wait to see whether any of these influencers will actually have to pay up, it is interesting that models like Jenner may soon have to face the consequences of blindly promoting events or products.
